Robotastic

My second attempt at the Orbit robot from the mobile game Astro Golf.  I went through the model and cut it into pieces, separated at the joints.  Each piece can interlock.  I think in the future I'll study how they detach action figures so that the character can move smoothly.

Why is small so cute?

The deer attempt V2.  I printed the deer upside  I'm trying to keep all of the weight towards the bed of the printer.  I also slowed down the speed of both the extrusion of the PLA and the speed of the printing. 65/90
Tiny deer, tiny chest, tiny table.  This is fun.

Early printing attempts.

My first attempts at printing. I printed both with PLA filament. A few things I discovered:
-some connecting pieces can break very easily.  Note the green robot.  The model is not cleaned up because his joints will break.  I printed him very small as well so maybe larger next time.
-make sure the bed of the printer has no ridges.  I put blue painters tape on the bed so that the models can be removed after printing.  I overlapped a piece of tape slightly which messed up the layers of the model. Note the missing layer lines in the grey deer.

3d printing adventure time!

Some friends and I decided to time share a 3d printer.  Being a 3d artist your mind always races with the possibilities of 3d printing.
I present the PowerSpec 3d Dual extruder.   For the price it's a good place to start experimenting I think...
