Vanda Darkflame Sculpt

It's been a while since I sculpted.  I'm usually a fan of oil based clay but I have yet learned to cast. So in efforts to preserve my sculpt and experiment I finally braved Super Sculpey.

The Subject:  Vanda Darkflame the leader of the Paradox Faction on LEGO Universe.  A game I recently worked on as a world artist.

I decided to keep her in grey for now.  Painting will be another challenge for another day.

A Happy Lump

Meet Gulp. A happy little lump of clay ready to consume and grind down anything in his path. He has no skeleton only clay.

Oil Based Clay
WIP, created to eventually explore creating casts from oil based clay.

Clay all the way

This was a fun character to work on. She is really cute and has great round curves. She is also a WIP.

Playing with Clay

I started experimenting with clay back in Oct. '08. It has since become one of my favorite mediums. I love that if the proportions are off I can quickly rework the sculpt. I don't have to worry about counting my polys or correcting my edge loops. It's pure freedom.

These are WIP for Big Grin. Exploring character development. Image in the back was used a reference while supervised tweaking.

Created with oil based clay. Completion in 9 hours.
